Description:

You are invited to hear testimonies and learn about what God is doing through these mission agencies and individuals.  This workshop will inspire and encourage you and your church to be the hands and feet of Jesus in your neighborhood and beyond.  You will have an opportunity to build relationship with and learn how you and your church can be involved in these ministries.

Ministries Included:

  • Christian Women’s Job Corps® (CWJC) of Madison County is a non-profit, faith-based agency where women in need are equipped for life and employment through job-readiness classes, computer classes, GED training, Bible study, and mentoring. Women chosen to participate in the Christian Women’s Job Corps program attend intensive life and work skills courses that include daily Bible study and computer classes. The classes vary in length and are free of charge. The curriculum is designed to give the CWJC students a firm foundation on which to build a successful life and career. Each student is assigned a mentor, and each mentor is committed to a one-year one-on-one relationship to help build the student’s self-esteem, self-confidence and skills essential to success in life and work.
  • UMRA - United Methodist Residential Alternatives, Inc. provides loving homes for adults with developmental disabilities so that they may live as independently as possible with pride and dignity.  An Advance Special of the North Alabama United Methodist Conference, UMRA currently operates 9 homes:  6 in Decatur and 3 in Gadsden, serving 30 residents.  A 10th home on the property of Bluff Park UMC in Birmingham is planned.  Additionally, 14 clients are served through the day training program in Decatur.
  • Red Bird Mission, a non-profit agency located in the Appalachian mountains of Southeastern Kentucky, empowers individuals and advocates justice by providing educational, health, and community outreach ministries to area low-income residents. Red Bird Mission, guided by Jesus Christ, empowers individuals and advocates justice by providing spiritual, educational, health, and community outreach ministries.
  • Morningside Assisted Living-Several members of Asbury provide worship services for the residents of Morningside Assisted Living in Madison on Sunday Afternoons.  Asbury members provide a worship service with preaching, singing and fellowship.  This ministry gives life and hope in Jesus Christ to those who are unable to come to church.
