UMCH in the 21st Century

Workshop description:

Participants in this workshop will explore how UMCH creatively and faithfully serves the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of children, youth and families in Alabama and northwest Florida. UMCH has recently completed the transition from campus-based organization located in Selma, Alabama to community-based organization headquartered in Montgomery and offers a wide diversity of programs. Led by the Chaplain, this will be an interactive workshop focusing on how UMCH transforms lives and offers hope through high quality residential and foster care, parenting classes, family preservation ministries, life coaching and spiritual development opportunities.

Time: Friday 2 to 4 p.m.

Bio: UMCH Chaplain, Rev. Lonna Lynn Higgs, is a United Methodist pastor and life coach. She has been with UMCH since June 2010 and travels 1500 to 2000 miles a month to work with the staff and clients across UMCH widespread and diverse ministry area. Lonna Lynn is married to Rev. Lawton Higgs, Jr., pastor at Oakmont United Methodist Church in Birmingham where they live with their teenage daughter, Mary Hannah.
