Workshop description:

Samaritan's Purse has nearly 20 years of experience in disaster response assisting victims of war, poverty and natural disasters.  During this session, we will cover the approach of Samaritan's Purse to disaster response, current trends, opportunities and challenges within humanitarian aid and how you and your church can get involved with Samaritan's Purse within the US and abroad.

Time: Saturday 9 to 11 a.m.

Bio:

Kerry Dodson is the Volunteer Manager for Samaritan’s Purse North American Projects. She came to Samaritan’s Purse in 2004 to serve as a Field Manager for Operation Christmas Child then moved to the Disaster Relief program in 2008. She currently serves on the National Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters (VOAD) Volunteer Management Committee and recently chaired the Volunteer Bill of Rights Sub-Committee. Ms. Dodson has worked in nonprofit management for more than 15 years including the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Waste Policy Institute, and United Way of Montgomery County, Virginia.

Jordan Lycan - A North Carolina native, Jordan is the daughter of church planters and missionaries.  She has been involved in humanitarian aid since 2001.  She has worked in Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa and Asia in complex emergencies, natural disasters and reconstruction projects.  She attended University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill (B.A) and Oxford Brookes University (M.A).  Jordan is presently the Disaster Response Advisor for Samaritan’s Purse.
