Learning To Pray For Others - Intercessory Prayer 101

Learning To Pray For Others - Intercessory Prayer 101

Presented by: Pastor John Ryberg

Workshop description:

The workshop is based on Terry Teykl’s book Praying Grace. During the workshop, we will explore the model presented in Terry’s book and sharpen our skills in praying for others by ushering them into the presence of God. A very important principle of intercessory prayer is the “One Moment Principle.” We know that God can do more in a moment to help a person, than we can accomplish in a lifetime of service and action. The subject of intercessory prayer is far deeper than can be covered in one session, but this workshop will present a basic model for prayer and hopefully a give you a renewed passion to seek God in prayer.

Time: Saturday 9 to 11 a.m.

Bio: John is in his ninth year of pastoral ministry at Asbury. He has taught the basic class for Altar Prayer Ministers since shortly after Asbury implemented intercessory prayer as a part of Sunday morning worship, John has been married to Beth (Asbury UMC Food Service Manager) for twenty two years and they have a twenty one year old daughter, Jordan, who was baptized and raised in the church at Asbury. Prior to serving as a pastor, John was the business administrator for the church. John was raised in a devout Roman Catholic home, but strayed from the church in his early adulthood years. After following Beth to church at Asbury and attending for several years, John accepted the invitation to attend the Walk to Emmaus, which is a three day spiritual retreat. During the retreat, John committed his life to Jesus and shortly after that came to work for the church.
